I have known my friend Heather for most of my life. We met in third grade. Think about this for a moment. She's not bound to me by blood or marriage, and she's STILL willing to admit that she knows me. For twenty eight years.
Heather is a deeply loyal person.

Heather has sat through several movies that I love. She does not love them. In fact, she's created a whole genre of movies, and titled them "Fairy Scary Cari Movies".
Heather is a wordsmith, with keen powers of observation into the human heart.
3.
Growing up, Heather had the biggest family I knew. She's one of, I think, six children. She always struck me as more or less normal, so when Ken and I contemplated having a big family, Heather was one of the "success stories" I'd keep in mind.
Heather is to blame for my seven hundred kids.

Heather used to have French exchange students come stay with her. I remember I developed an immediate crush on the boy, whose name I think was Bruno. In retrospect, there was probably nothing whatsoever to justify said crush, other than he was foreign. Heather has never once teased me for that embarrassing foray into French men.
Heather has way more embarrassing dirt on me than that.
5.
Heather is the only female in a house of five men/boys. She is still sane, and funny, and not particularly easy to rile.
Heather gives me hope that it's possible to survive horrific household gender imbalances.

Heather came up to Connecticut several months ago, and was able to come see me. I was given absolutely strict instructions that I was NOT to take pictures of her. And I listened.
Heather has the power to make picture-heavy bloggers act contrary to their nature. Science has thus far been unable to determine how.

Heather read my previous post, and Facebooked me the following message, "I can't even keep a blog and someone else provides my children the majority of their academic education...so you feeling guilty about this stuff makes me feel worse and that's not nice. So...to add to your list, you need to write something nice to me now."
Heather cracks me up. And makes me feel better. Both marks of a good friend.
Thank you for being such a good friend, Heath.
So, what do you love about Heather?
A TRUE friend is worth more than all the riches in the world. Ask your Godfather. I have known him for OVER 53 of our 60 years on this planet. And he STILL chuckles at my lousy jokes,ad nauseum.
ReplyDeleteI love Heather because she is funny and bright and real...
