The Only Thing That Can Trump Snow in the Hearts of My Children

So because that's how it works, one day after posting about how I got all earthy and spiritual at the same time in my 56-degree garden, I wake up to this:

Which always puts me in as surly a mood as it makes my kids crazy with jubilation.  Snowpants!  Boots!  Mismatched mittens!!  Snowmen, snowballs, snowcastles, ohmygoshwe'refreezingweneedhotchocolaterightnow!

But today?  None of it.  No one asked me to help them track down snow gear, or get the snowbrick mold, or make them hot chocolate or anything!

And what was it that managed to trump freshly fallen, primo packing snow in the hearts of my children?

The anticipation of the arrival of these:

Yes.  Today was chick pickup day at Clan Donaldson.  Two buff orpingtons and two barred rocks, in all their ridiculously adorable glory.

Which all means that for the next several posts, you're going to have to endure a million chick pictures.

  3. For eggs? Because I can't imagine you frying up that chick for dinner. The weather was really crazy today - and we ran 9.1 miles in the sleet and snow. Yup, we're hard core like that. Get ready.
