No, just kidding. There's no extra quick here.
1.
Do you have a picture-taking device? Do you know how to make it work? Then you should join us next Thursday for "Theme Thursday". Every week there's a new photography topic for interpretation. You picture it up, link it up, and we all get to encourage each other. The first week's theme was "Sun Flare or Haze" and you can see the amazing pictures here.
(in fact, the link is still live for the next few days if you'd like to add yours)
2.
This week's theme is:
Hat or Scarf.
Easy for those of us living in winterwonderlands, maybe not so much for you living in warm, sun-drenched locales. So sorry for you.
3.
We picked up a bucket of this stuff at Costco today:
Ken muttered about it being the "gateway drug to becoming a Prepper", and I cracked up at the caloric content (about 200/serving. Even at three meals a day that's not going to cut it), but with the extended power outages we've had since moving here- courtesy Hurricanes Alfred, Irene and Sandy and the limply named "October Ice Storm"- we figured it would serve in a pinch. I know you're supposed to have your "72 Hour Kit" ready, and before the purchase of this food bucket, our kit contained two band-aids and an expired bottle of Advil. So it's something, I guess.
4.
Do most 72 Hour Kits include a fifth of tequila? I think ours should, anyway.
5.
My cousin in coming in from NYC tomorrow. We're going to eat pizza and drink wine and play "Just Dance 3" until we unlock that dang Airplanes song. You know why? I mean, other than because I'm really a 12 year old boy? Because when John-Luke sings the chorus and it's just about the cutest thing ever.
I'm doing it for my kids, honest.
6.
Speaking of doing things for your kids, Flamig Farm is a family-run farm down the road from me. I follow them on Facebook, though they seldom post. When they do, it's general business information- petting zoo is now open, hayrides have started up, pumpkins are now for sale. That sort of thing.
Yesterday, however, they posted twice. The first post was announcing applications for summer jobs.
The next post, about two hours after, was this:
Flamig Farm- making over 400 people crack up with a single FB post.
7.
My friend Jen had this posted on her FB wall today. I'm going to watch it four more times, then let the kids watch it all day, because this is hilarious.
This is a mammal unencumbered with an overbearing mother.
I'm going to call it "science class" and everyone will be a winner.
JFul's got more.

False advertising. I came here for the quick.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand that bucket of food. Is it a mix? Do you just add tequila and call it a meal?
Have fun with your cousin, and dance you a** off because you know you need the practice for when we have our second dance-off.
Most things should include tequila.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't the iPad have flash?? Doesn't it know I am desperately trying to avoid sleep while not actively sitting at a computer?
Also, Colleen's comment is hilarious! You two should go into comedy together.
Oh, Cari. That picture of your son with his ears askew is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we're gonna need more information on this bucket o' food, okay? Inquiring minds!
ReplyDeleteSecond the food bucket queries. Also, I thought the extra take joke was funny.
ReplyDeleteSo ya think your cold weather accessories are a deterrent? Spose you've never heard of sombreros or foulards?????
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, I thought FOOD was cheerios. Or Honey Bunches O' Oats on a good day.
Yes to the tequila. Because, you know, medical emergencies and such. Plus stress.
ReplyDeleteAnd another vote for the more info on that bucket o' food. You might have to buy another bucket so you can open it and show us what "food" looks like.
Love the science class video!
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck did the rest of my post go?
What is in that food bucket? How much does it cost? Will you be breaking it open when you get a case of the munchies while dancing ?
Tequilla food mix + deer dance off 3 = one sore Saturday morning.
ReplyDeleteOh & I love the fb post!
